WebFeat Announces Proof of Concept Program

Company will build free federated search engines for libraries’ evaluation

Old Brookville, NY February 15, 2003 — WebFeat today announced that it will build proof-of-concept versions of its award-winning WebFeat Knowledge Prism federated search engine for libraries free of charge for a thirty day evaluation period. The WebFeat Knowledge Prism enables libraries to simultaneously search all of their databases from a single intuitive
interface.

“In the new field of federated searching, we feel it is imperative for libraries to get the facts before committing precious resources to a purchase,” said Todd Miller, Founder and CEO of WebFeat, “for this reason, our company feels compelled to make this offering to the library community.”

As part of the limited-time program, WebFeat will build WebFeat Prism systems capable of simultaneously searching all library databases, including subscription databases, free databases, and catalogs. Included with the Prism will be the WebFeat Usage Tracker (WUT), capable of capturing and reporting usage statistics for all databases searched through WebFeat, as well as database native interfaces.

For more information on the WebFeat Proof-of-Concept program, interested libraries should contact Marge Ehmann at (888) 757-9119, or mehmann@webfeat.org.
