Phoenix Public Library to Implement Custom WebFeat
Federated Search Solution
|
Phoenix Public Library, which serves the fifth largest city in the United States, has selected WebFeat to provide a custom federated search solution for the library's approximately one million registered users. Library staff selected WebFeat after a lengthy RFP process and extensive review of federated search vendors that included on-site product demonstrations.
WebFeat is in the process of designing a user-interface that is being customized per library specifications. Once launched, Phoenix Public Library's WebFeat system will enable patrons to simultaneously search over 110 electronic databases offered by the Library as well as the Library's online catalog. WebFeat's patented authentication technology, which enables users within and outside the library to access the Library's electronic resources, was a significant factor in the Library's selection of WebFeat. |

Westminster College Launches Griffin Search Powered by WebFeat
Giovale Library replaces previous federated system with custom WebFeat solution
Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah launched Griffin Search, a custom branded federated search system powered by WebFeat. A member of the Utah Academic Library Consortium, and consistently ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a top regional college, Westminster College offers access to over 100 online databases and electronic resources through its Giovale Library. All of these electronic resources, including the Library's catalog, can now be simultaneously searched via the Library's WebFeat system.
After more than a year of experimenting with the product of another federated search vendor, Westminster College was especially pleased with the smooth implementation provided by WebFeat as well as the fact that WebFeat hosts and maintains the Griffin Search system. “WebFeat has been very responsive to our individual needs,” commented David A. Hales, Giovale Library Director. “We are especially pleased that we are able to provide this excellent search tool without library staff having to spend hours of time doing individual programming and maintenance. We have a small staff, all of whom have multiple responsibilities, so WebFeat’s full-service approach has been the perfect fit for us. WebFeat enabled us to launch Griffin Search in a short time without draining staff resources.”
“The WebFeat implementation process went very smoothly for our site,” said Jennifer Foy, Systems Librarian.
"During the build process, I was thoroughly impressed with the staff at WebFeat and the speed in which they were able to get our site up and running and with the quality of work they delivered."
