King County Library System Launches WebFeat Version 3.0

Latest Generation WebFeat System Combines Federated Searching With Intuitive Subject Search Capability

Issaquah, WA USA December 19, 2002 — King County Library System has released its third generation WebFeat system, incorporating a number of new features, including a unique subject search capability. This enables users to easily re-execute searches against database groups pre-assigned to subject categories created by the library.

“We are very pleased with this latest generation of King County’s WebFeat system,” said Bill Ptacek, Director of King County Library System, “it provides our users with the power of cross-database search technology combined with a remarkably intuitive interface.”

King County’s version 3.0 WebFeat system includes additional features, such as WebFeat’s new Scoreboard™ function, providing a summary of search results by database. The WebFeat interface is seamlessly integrated within King County’s own web pages, offering users an elegant, yet familiar search environment. King County’s WebFeat system was built to specifications designed by King County Library System.

King County’s WebFeat system also includes the WebFeat Usage Tracker (“WUT”), which tracks and reports usage for their 70 databases. WUT eliminates the time-consuming requirement to request usage data from dozens of content providers, then compile into a cogent report.

“We are very excited about the latest advancements on King County’s next generation WebFeat system,” said Todd Miller, Founder and CEO of WebFeat, “what makes these innovations more compelling is the fact that they were designed by the Library.”
