San Francisco Public Library Launches
WebFeat System
All Library Databases Can Now Be Searched from One Interface

San Francisco, CA USA December 19, 2002 — San Francisco Public Library has released their
WebFeat Prism system to the public. The WebFeat Prism enables Library patrons
to simultaneously search their entire collection of disparate databases
through a single intuitive interface.
San Francisco’s WebFeat system incorporates a unique assortment
of databases, including its proprietary San Francisco Historical Photographic
collection, its San Francisco Community Services Directory of local government
and non-profit organizations, as well as a Telnet periodicals catalog.
The system’s Spanish interface was custom designed by the staff of San
Francisco Public Library.
“We
are very pleased to offer this state-of-the-art information technology
to our patrons,” said Roberto Esteves of San Francisco Public Library, “the
WebFeat system helps the library fulfill its goal of providing the best
information content in the most convenient way possible to our users.”
San
Francisco Public Library’s WebFeat system includes the WebFeat Usage Tracker
(“WUT”), which tracks and reports usage for the Library’s 70+ databases.
WUT eliminates the time-consuming requirement to request usage data from
dozens of content providers, then compile into a cogent report.
“We
are very excited to be working with San Francisco Public Library,” said
Todd Miller, Founder and CEO of WebFeat, “the WebFeat system they have
designed reflects the vision of the library staff.”
